This Henry Cecil Open Weekend 2023 will continue to support racing staff in Newmarket and the wider local community by raising funds for:

Racing Welfare

The Henry Cecil Open Weekend will continue to raise funds for its main beneficiary – Racing Welfare.

Through funds raised by the Open Weekend Racing Welfare completed the renovation of MacDonald Buchanan House, providing 18 units of high-quality accommodation for young racing staff in the town.

Racing Welfare has also proved invaluable  to many individuals in the the industry, offering essential services and support for racing staff through the pandemic.

British Racing School

Celebrating 40 years in 2023, The British Racing School’s  mission is to make the horse racing industry accessible for all young people, regardless of their background or experience with horses.

The British Racing School empowers young people to achieve their educational and employment potential by providing them with outstanding industry education, Skills for life, Skills for work, Soft Skills and Opportunity.

Newmarket Open Door 

Newmarket Open Door’s mission is to sustain and inspire people who are homeless to change their own lives by the provision of accommodation and support; to provide relief to persons experiencing poverty, hunger and physical and mental disability and to change perceptions and attitudes towards these people.
